Solflower Health Consultants
Solflower Health Consultants was created by Sue Mustalish in 1999. Over the past 20 years, Sue has been a part of the holistic, integrative medicine community in and about West Chester PA. In 2020, we moved the practice to a new location and look forward to welcoming old friends and new ones in the years to come.
One of our underlying intentions is meeting people wherever they are on the continuum of health and well being.

Owner and Practitioner
Many years ago, as a young nurse working night shift in a hospital, I didn’t know anything about “body energetics”, but I did recognize that there were times when the usual go to's (medication, talking about it, back rub) weren’t easing the discomfort of my patients. However, I noticed that massaging someone’s feet allowed them to achieve a more restful state and this experience stayed with me through the years.
In the mid 90s, I was fortunate enough to connect with the American Holistic Nurses’ Association, through which I was introduced to the practice of Reflexology.
I went on to complete an Integrative Reflexology certification at the New York Open Center. It was then that Solflower was born.
As a testament to the accessibility of the modality, I have performed reflexology in many scenarios including but not limited to, the hospital bedside, office, classroom, private homes, hospice, back seat of a car, the Peruvian Amazon and an airplane–– but never further away than my fingertips.

“The Best of the West and the Best of the Rest”
Dr. Andrew Weil MD once referred to holistic, integrative medicine as “the Best of the West and the Best of the Rest”.
Holism, the perspective that body, mind, spirit and the surrounding dynamic environment are all inextricably connected, felt like the truest concept I had ever heard in my studies of medicine and my life.
It became my North Star, the directional target that led me on a decades-long, rich and rewarding journey of caregiving and what I recognized would be a life long adventure of learning. That journey has included practicing medical and surgical nursing, gastroenterology, botanical medicine, reflexology, aromatherapy and flower essences. I have also run a private practice, engaged in wellness coaching and integrative nutrition, worked in hospice care, taught at West Chester University, facilitated tours to the Peruvian Amazon, and conducted public and professional workshops and retreats. My heart overflows with gratitude and respect for the process.
What I offer to my clients is my perspective on a system of reflexology that has been in existence in various cultures worldwide for a least 3000 years and in continuous evolution. This is flavored by my own experiences as a holistic practitioner of 43 years of caregiving through observation, compassionate presence, support, education and motivation.
One of my underlying intentions is meeting people wherever they are on the continuum of health and well being. I view life as an amazing dance between things that happen and the healing it calls for. My experience has shown me time and again the wondrous miracle of the homeostatic nature of the body which will always try to return to a state of balance. As practitioners, our part is to do what we can to support that effort.
I Have Always Loved Sunflowers!
Throughout recorded history there are countless examples of human discoveries, growth and development that were inspired in people by just being present to and aware of the moments revealing everyday mysteries and ordinary miracles of nature…of life itself.
The story of Solflower was born of one of those “moments” and how life is always available to reflect back to us, give us a message to help ourselves to guide ourselves. For me, Sunflower became Soulflower in answer to an inner longing, then became Soleflower with my studies of reflexology and finally Solflower bloomed.
If you’d like to hear the story, let me know. I love sharing it.
